Florida Vacations on the Beach
There are so many places to go and things to do in Florida it’s hard to know where to begin. Its warm climate makes it a great destination year round and is especially popular in spring and summer. The many regions and cities of the state offer something for everyone.
If you’re looking for a beach getaway, you can find fantastic Florida timeshares and vacation rental homes just about anywhere. Great beaches are found all over the state, on both the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico coasts. The Panhandle is home to the Panama City, Pensacola, and Perdido Key beaches among others. White sands and clear waters make them very inviting and the coastal towns have plenty of activities for young and old. Amelia Island and Fernandina Beach in northeast Florida are near some of the oldest settlements in the US, giving them a rich history to explore after you’re done soaking up the sun.
Central Florida is home to the Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Daytona beaches and many more. Both coasts offer lots to do, like visiting Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Center near Cocoa Beach or seeing manatees swim. Or you can find Florida vacation rental properties near the less developed beaches like Playalinda and Fort de Soto. They offer camping opportunities and plenty of secluded spots. Kids will enjoy their wildlife and adults will like the uninterrupted peace of the untouched beaches.
Sanibel Island is a favorite for many vacationers. Find Florida vacation homes and timeshares close to exquisite shelling beaches. Southern Florida beaches are near the ultra-hip and cosmopolitan Miami area and have a variety of attractions near them. Island resorts, the Everglades, and the Florida Keys are just a few of the top draws for beach enthusiasts in southern Florida.
City Vacations in Florida
Just like the beaches, Florida’s cities offer a variety of styles and attractions. Miami is full of international jet-setters and has an active Cuban community that injects a vibrant local flavor into the mix. Preserved art deco buildings highlight the city’s history, and there are several excellent museum and science attractions for the whole family to visit. Head north a little bit to Ft. Lauderdale to experience the “Venice of North America.” Orlando, in the center of the state, is one of the world’s biggest tourist destinations and home to Walt Disney World, Sea World, and the Universal Orlando Resort. It has a rich multi-cultural scene and a growing performing arts scene as well. Be sure to visit the Fringe Festival to see the latest in up and coming artists and performers.
On the west coast, Tampa Bay has over 160 parks and beaches just within city limits! The city’s most famous event is the Gasparilla Pirate Festival, a yearly celebration featuring crews of pirates and citizens fighting in the bay in front of hundreds of thousands. The city also has several professional sports teams, including the Buccaneers (NFL) and the Lightning (NHL). Jacksonville and St. Petersburg are the other major cities in northern Florida that offer many sporting, cultural, and recreational attractions. For a restful day trip, head south down the coast to St. Augustine.
Whether you choose a beach, a city, or explore the wilds in the center of the state, Florida has something for everyone, 365 days a year. The Sunshine State has plenty of opportunities for kids, adults, and families. Wherever you want to go, you’re sure to find a perfect vacation home away from home.
